Yousee-Customers Should Be Careful with Streaming

More than three hours of TV a day on streaming Netflix, for example, can cause problems for YouSee customers. Closed subscription may end up.

As in the past we could tell, so experiencing YouSee a marked increase of streaming TV and music. In fact, the increase is so powerful that it now surpasses file sharing, which has been relegated to second place.

38 percent of the YouSees total downloads traffic now consists of streaming services, while file sharing is as low as 30 percent of the total internet traffic.

But YouSee customers should take good care of with the new streamingtjenester, for YouSee has a so-called “fair-use limit”, which can be a problem for some customers.

“Fair-use” restricts Netflix

With just three hours of Netflix on day risk for violating YouSees “fair-use limit”, if one uses YouSees minimum broadband connection on 10/1 Mbit.

Three hours of Netflix might sound like much, but it is actually not so much-especially if you are a small family of two adults and a few media mitten children.

Much of the content on Netflix already exists now in HD format, which consumes around 2.3 GB of data per hour. Quite a normal household with two children, each stream one hour children’s television a day, will so easily could consume around 5 GB per day.

Add to this the adult’s streaming music from Spotify or other network services such as DR NOW, as parents may want to use when the kids are put to bed.

An ordinary family can therefore easily use 6-7 GB of data per day, which means that they come dangerously close to the “fair-use limit”. Looking URf.eks. four hours of HD streaming from Netflix on the day, then exceed it “fair-use limit” in the course of 21 days.

The consequence by exceed “fair-use limit” is, according to the YouSees interpretation, that it will be forced to buy a larger subscription or get terminated the current.

So either you have to pay more, or do you stand without internet. This stands in stark contrast to most xDSL connections which is offered without any ceiling on consumption.

Yousee is, however, not the only internet provider with a “fair-use limit”. The country’s second major cable TV company Stofa, also have a limit on their top of the range with a speed of 112/12 Mbit.

This limit is at 500 GB per month. According to the company’s terms, there is no “fair-use limit” on the company’s slower products.
